Dr Schaefer,

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for being so kind, caring and compassionate towards my mother during her entire journey with breast cancer. She lost her battle August 3, 2013.

From the beginning of her journey at Abbott, she felt your passion and she trusted you would be dedicated to do your part to make her feel better.

She appreciated the fact that you always made yourself available to her when she needed you! Even five years later she was touched by your intensity and compassion. She truly believed you cared for her, as a person, not just as a patient.

You did so much more for her than just make her look and feel “whole” again. You listened to her, comforted her and helped her find pathways to reach positive avenues for her concerns.

You were her favorite doctor in her very difficult journey. When she felt no one would listen or that no one cared, she called your office and when she didn’t feel calling you was appropriate, she would tell me she wished the doctor she was working with was more like Dr. Schaefer!

She appreciated that she always felt like she was “heard” by you. She also appreciate your direct and honest answers.

I am very grateful that she had you in her journey! I appreciated all the positive things you gave her emotionally, cosmetically, professionally, and personally. Thank you!
